"Forgive and Forget"
Growing up you never thought
You'd be faced with such decisions
Like forgiving someone so close to you
Forgiving your own mother
Six long years she left your life never to be seen
She was a constant worry in the back of your mind
Telling yourself "If she ever comes back,
There's no way I can ever forgive her."
One day she steps back into your life
She s h a k e s it up, turns it upside down
There still one question in the back of your mind
Forgive and forget?
She's your mother, you think
She deserves your forgiveness
But everytime you're ready to forgive
You're still not quite ready to forget
But time heals all wounds and scars eventually fade
You've put in the back of your mind when she left that day
And all the years of the PAIN have been apologized
And finally you're ready to let your mother back into your life.
That's a poem I had to write for English class about a decision we had to make that made all of the difference in our life. I was terrifed to read it, but Melillo said everyone had to read atleast one of their poetry pieces, so I just got up and did it. I was shaking through the whole thing and my voice kept cracking, but I got through it. I didn't think reading something like that would be so hard. Then as I went to sit down, Geno asked me if it was a true story. And I was just like "What the hell?" How could someone write something like that if it wasn't a true story?
Yeah, extremely emotional english class today.
