Whew, crazy week. After hiking and long drives on Friday, N- and I cleaned a bit on Saturday and on Sunday, right after I finally beat Guitar Hero on hard,
springsea rang my bell! I mean, I was expecting her and everything, but it was still very exciting. I am so happy to have a guest room again and to be able to have people over when they are nearby or passing through. I know
springsea had an extremely long drive home, but it was great to see her and catch up more than our usual random IM chats allow. Woo hoo!
librarygal is in my state too this week, but I just couldn't figure out a way to go see her (hope you're having fun!). Since I am leaving for a conference this morning and teaching three classes Monday after getting home late Sunday night, and of course I had procrastinated more than I should have on the paper I'm giving, I had a lot to get done in three days. Plus all the music history students (50) and all the music colloquium students (75) have library or research assignments due on Friday, so I've been bombarded with questions. Which is good (really good actually, and I can feel a difference from last year, which is what I was going for), but just a bad time for it. I'm still not that confident with my paper, but I think as long as I can get the other music librarians to be in the same mood as I am, it will help. It needs to be slightly lighthearted without being silly. As I read it through last night I realized I kept saying "Some people say" instead of just making statements. It was weak. Now it is stronger, and longer. Oh yeah, I'm talking about music used in presidential campaigns for candidates from the southeast. You'd better believe I've learned a lot about American history these past few months. You never know how much you don't know....
I'm off shortly, but I had to get online to send myself a backup copy of my presentation. It looks like it might rain all weekend which is okay up until Sunday when I plan on swimming in the ocean, okay universe?
