Today is N- and my sixth wedding anniversary. We spent the morning packing and cleaning, which wasn't fun exactly, but very satisfying. Our annoying landlord called and we asked if he could just wait until Tuesday to show more people the house but he absolutely wouldn't wait. He wanted to do it at 1, we said we were too busy then, and he would have to wait until the evening. He STILL came by at 1 to "drop off" the moving out document. So annoying. Frankly, I think he crosses the line. We paid rent to live here ALL month and he is constantly disrupting our lives.
However, I do acknowledge that when I am feeling stressed out, people like him annoy me more than usual. Plus he's an athletic coach type - sports medicine actually, and I always feel like people like that are judging me even when they aren't.
Anyway! I digress. We finally took the rest of our unwanted books, CDs, and videos to Half Price Books, where they gave us much more than I anticipated since I couldn't give the stuff away during my Virtual Garage Sale. N- found the Alias video game he's been looking for, and I found the
Kitchen Witch's Cookbook which I have heard about from someone, either on here or on the BPAL forums. It has recipes for more traditional or not traditional holidays, depending on how you define them. Plus cool tofu recipes! I was excited. I always like finding books that you just don't come across in a regular bookstore.
Then, of course, we ate at our favorite restaurant, India Garden, for the last time. It was lovely and we have a lot of leftovers to eat tomorrow after we've packed all our dishes.
We talked about work a lot, sadly, since we have finally left it, but we just realized that we won't be working at the same place, and we have for the past 4.5 years. There are pros and cons for that fact. Actually it might be fun working for cross-town rivals.
We heard from U-Haul and we have a truck all ready to be picked up on Monday. The landlord of our new place promised yesterday to overnight the keys to us but they didn't come today, so the last stressful thing besides driving 9 hours will be do we have a place to live or not? I'm sure it will work out, one way or the other. But I think it's good we're moving into someplace brand new, as the new landlords seem incredibly unresponsive. Monday we do a few more things in town (return library books, take a few more things to Goodwill, pick up truck) and then load up the truck at 5. We'll sleep on an air mattress and sit in camping chairs and head out early Tuesday morning! Don't be surprised if I don't post a lot between now and Thursday. But I'll be back.
