Movies

So, I took my little brother to a movie today. I thought he would be interested in seeing Ghost Rider, but he was more interested in Bridge to Terabithia. Since both of these movies were on my to see list, we went ahead and saw Terabithia... What a beautiful movie. The story has been a childhood favorite of mine since 4th grade, and the movie really does it justice. Admittedly, it brings the school into the modern age with references to electronics in the classroom and not using the internet to write essays, but really it's just reflecting on how school can be for kids. The special effects are good, and done in such a way that you can see how the fantasy parts are really just an extension of the kids imaginations. Even knowing where the story was going, I found the movie beautiful and fulfilling, and when it reached it's apex, it took me with it.

For those of you who don't know... It's not exactly a happy ending... However, it is hopeful, and in that sense I think it does a good job of reflecting life. This is definitely a movie I will buy when it comes out on DVD.
