And now, an actual update

Mar 25, 2005 11:18

Hello, everyone, this time I will actually update, and not post a picture of a donut praising Jesus, or anything like that; I probably should, it being Good Friday and all, but I won't.

Anyway, the reason I don't post much is because there is nothing really new in my life; there are no real spectacular events. Next month will be different, as there are thousands of spectacular events.

I'll start off on the weekend of the 18th.

First, I had all-city Jazz Band; this consists of people from Virginia Beach schools trying out, and the best of the best get to play in a band. I was second chair tenor, so hooray. We meet for three hours on a Friday night, three hours on Saturday morning, and then play a concert at Saturday afternoon. We played fairly easy pieces, obviously, as we had a combined total of about six hours to prepare them, and things went well. I don't think I played as well as I could have, because I wasn't confident with the music, but I've been told I sounded fine.

After the concert, I speeded up to William and Mary, to see Jon in a juggling performance. That dude can handle some serious balls (laugh!). Then he, Neil and I went to see my absolute favorite comedian, Demetri Martin. As we sat down in the second row, I heard someone go "NIIICCK" behind me. Turns out that Nancy was there, too, in the row right behind us. Crazy.

First, this sketch comedy group called the Late Night Players came on, and they were hilarious; they were very customized to each of their venues. For example, they had an improv knock-knock joke thing where they are only allowed to joke the campus, and then they had 10 anagrams of William and Mary. My favorite was "I RAM A WILD ANAL."

Then, Demetri came on, and performed for about an hour and a half. After he was done, my stomach seriously hurt more than it had ever hurt in my life, simply because I had laughed so hard. It took an hour and a half to stop hurting.

The four of us hung out, and then Neil showed Jon and I Fable, and then we went to Jon's dorm and I slept on the floor.

On Monday, there was the District II Jazz band festival, so I had to play yet again. This was the best jazz bands from the district (I don't know what that consists of, but Norfolk was there, too) performing. Last year, we won best band, but this year for some reason, they decided to just give out a rating, and no placement. We got the best big band, this year, and got all 1's overall (Superior rating).

Things have been pretty mellow since that; play practice has been going well, and I have been practicing the solo from Enter Sandman for Freaky Friday. Oh, yeah, Annabelle and I are going to be hosting Cabaret next week on April 2nd, so please, everyone come out to that.

Speaking of April, here's what I have next month:

The 2nd: Cabaret
The 9th: Prom
The 15th: Freaky Friday
The 23rd: The Play
The 27th: The Jazz Jam (Thanks, Niraj, I almost forgot)
The 30th: Anime Fest

I have no weekend life for a month. Awesome. Everyone, please please please come out to as many of those as you can, especially The Play. The play is absolutely hilarious.

OK, this entry has been really frigging long, so I am going to go. If I think of anything else, I'll post more later.

Happy Easter and Good Friday, everyone.
