Still here!

Hey everyone, hope everything is doing great on that side of the world (Or, in nobananas's case, this side of the world)!

So, in my life, still not a whole lot going on that is worthy of discussing, besides the fact that phantumtears started at Lightship Entertainment today. As of right now, I am waiting to talk to her to find out how the day went. While I am talking about Jess, just a quick reminder to my readers that our wedding is slated for October 21st, 2006, and our anniversary is just nine days away (Yes, it's October 21st. :P)!

I've been asked quite a bit lately about when I am coming home. Truth is, I don't know for sure (You never do with the Army), but I am thinking probably in the first half of January '06, just a couple months away! I am beginning to pack up some of my personal belongings to be shipped home around the end of the month! All in all, the time has been going by pretty quick. One of our last major milestones is the Iraqi referendum elections, scheduled for Saturday, the 15th. After that, the Government elections are December 15th, and with any luck, the Iraqi Government will be established on December 31st.

How do I feel about this? Well, I'm kinda torn. See, I have been playing Freedom Fighters quite a bit lately. For those that don't know, Freedom Fighters came out a couple years ago, and is an alternative history game wherein the Soviet Union beats the United States to developing nuclear weaponry, dropping a nuke on Berlin, and ending the war. From that point on, the USSR becomes the worlds leading superpower, and invades New York city in 2003. As the leader of a small resistance force, it is your job to liberate New York from the Russians. The game has really gotten me thinking about the war in general.. I mean, us occupying Iraq, and the local insurgency trying to repel us is directly along the same concept lines. To the people we are fighting, America is the enemy that has invaded their country.. So why is what we are doing here acceptable, when we can just as easily make a video game (Which held no controversy at its release, mind you) and praise those that fight a larger occupying force? It's hard to not feel like a hypocrite when you think about it that way, ya know?

Anyway, time to send a message to my fiance to see if it is safe to give her a call. Before I go though, I have a favor.. If you are reading this, please leave a comment saying you read it (opinions totally optional). I want to get a feel for the people that still read my entries. If you happen to not have a LiveJournal account, just post anonymously and tell me who you are. Thanks so much!

Once again, I hope everyone remains happy and well, and I'll be home soon! Take care!
