We have a new dog. His name is Linus, after Linus Pauling, inventor of x-ray crystallography and one of two people to win two Nobel prizes in different fields (chemistry and peace - take that, Al Gore).
We're working on getting pictures up, but right now neither Laura nor I have a digital camera. So we're taking film photos and waiting to get them developed.
The whole process of getting a dog was pretty annoying. We visited three different shelters, put in applications for several different dogs, and had two or three dogs adopted out from under us. But Linus was pretty much our first choice - he was friendly, older, quiet, etc.. In fact, he hasn't barked once (except when we left him in his crate while we were doing dishes), nor has he gone to the bathroom on anything. He does chew pretty much anything he'll put in his mouth, but eventually we'll get him to learn to chew his toys and not other things.
Tomorrow will pretty much be the big test, since we have to leave him alone a few hours at a time - I have to go to class in the morning, but I'm coming back around 11, and then I have to go to work - but here's hoping everything goes well.
