This weekend has flown by so fast. My weekend really started on Thursday, St Patty's Day. Me, Paul, Andrew, and Chris went to Ronnie's to drink and hang out. After getting pretty drunk Andrew and I came back instead of going out to an MIT party. Went over to Georgia and Lauren's room and played some Kings and got more drunk. I had class in the morning but I didn't really care.
Friday I did end up going to class at 10. That was pretty boring. Came back and had lunch. Then at 2 watched War At Home for my Social Science class. On my way back to the dorm I picked up my paycheck from before spring break. It was only $50. That night I didn't feel like drinking much so my friend Will and I went to play poker and one of his buddy's apartments. I won $50. I kept getting really good hands and they were all pretty easy to read. So with the 50 from the paycheck and the 50 from poker, Friday turned out to be a pretty profitable day. Got home at 3 in the morning and passed out till 12 on Saturday.
Saturday made me feel like a real man of the house. Jon and I realized that our window was fithy on the outside and that it would probably be a lot nicer to look out if it didn't have all the grime all over it. The only thing standing in our way was the screen. Man, I didn't expect that to be so hard to get out. It probably took us about an hour to get the screen out of the window, which involved breaking some of the curtain hangers and bending metal with pliers. Him and his girlfriend, Amanda, cleaned the screen in the shower while I hung myself out the window to clean the outside. Eventually it was satisfactory and it took us only about 10 minutes to get the screen back in securely. Now it is much nicer to look out the window. But I think the satisfaction of doing our own home improvement project was the greatest reward.
That evening we went to California Pizza Kitchen for Andrew's birthday which was the next day. We had to wait for 45 minutes but that was ok. We went to some other stores in the mall to kill the time. By the time dinner was over we were all really giddy. I don't know why. It must have been something in the bread. We came back to the suite and drank some of Andrew's Puerto Rican rum which he brought back from Aruba. That was really good. We got invited to come play music at a house party on Ashford St. So Down The Hall reassembled for its first gig in about a year. We did a little warm up in the room but it was nothing great.
When we got to the house it was PACKED. I have never seen a house so crowded before. In the basement alone there must have been 50 people. That doesn't sound like a lot but considering how small it was it sure felt like it. The walls were all made of stone and it was unfinished. The furnace was plopped right in the middle of everything. I never even got over to the bar because it was to jammed. There was another band playing there but they were soon finished and we started playing. It was a whole lotta fun. At one point someone from the crowd stepped in on the microphone and he and I did a call and answer kinda deal. Him on the mic, and me playing trumpet.
Acustically it was a disaster but it was so loud and crowded no one cared. We only played for about half hour till another group wanted to play. We decided to leave because it was just so crowded. Chris and went back and then left soon after to go over to one of Paul's friends at the Atrium which is a really nice apartment building down the street. I thought it was lame so I left after a little and came back to crash.
Today I watched Paul's intramural softball game and tried to get some school work done. One of those failed miserably but that's okay because I realized everything I thought was happening this week isn't really happening till next week so I don't have to rush to get it done.
It's been a crazy past couple of days but thats what college should be... at least some of the time.
I keep telling myself I'm going to update more often but I never do anymore.
