Diablo III

There’s two - maybe three people who would know what I am about to prattle on about. But - I doubt any of them read this blog. I am talking about: Diablo.

Diablo is, hands down - my favorite video game of all time (It’s all about the PC version).

So why am I doing a little dance at 8am on a Saturday morning. Last night at work, I had a teenage patient who was wearing a shirt with a ‘Blizzard” logo on the back. Blizzard is the company who makes Diablo. At this point in life, it’s an old game. The shirt was from World of Warcraft, which I’ve always refused to play because I’ve been mad at Blizzard for years. I’m pretty sure that my young gentleman was somewhat surprised that some lady in a doctor’s office recognized the logo, so of course he said inquired about my knowledge.

Diablo is the fault of an ex-boyfriend (who knows who he is) , he made me start playing the stupid game and I got addicted. Eventually they came out with a second version D2. I’ve always felt that D2 - while adding many impressive features, took away too much of what made the original RPG so much fun. Since I was not the only player who felt that way, I had hope of a Diablo 3, that would add more coolness and perhaps bring back some of the old world goodness of the original.

But, Diablo three remained just a pipe dream for years. Fans clamored! But they kept coming out with friggen World of Warcraft, and while I have heard that the game is awesome - I was just too busy protesting the company to pay much mind to it.

While chatting with my young patient - he made my entire day. They are FINALLY making DIII.

I am right now, both thrilled and frustrated. I went home and immediately sat my ass on my laptop and looked it up - and there it was!!! The beginnings of the game!!! I am thrilled, of course because they are making it - they are actually making it! I am frustrated because it’s so early in development that it’s going to be a while until the actual game comes out.

On one hand, it would give me time to replay the other games - but I don’t know when I would find the time. My job would be great for it - but I’ve already learned the hard way that killing undead minions is a bit too creepy for me when I’m alone at night in the middle of the night in a quiet building. The building is on lock down after 10pm so I’ve never been afraid of actual people, but undead minions don’t care about locks. And, if you know me - you know that creepy freaks me out! I won’t even watch horror movies (Though the Evil Dead is a totally different story). It’s pretty amazing considering how easily creeped out I am, that I fell so hard for a game full of evil things that want to kill me - but it happened. And, oh my God - I just had to talk about it. If anyone actually made it through all this, you get kudos for having patience for my randomness but Wow - I am so excited right now.

So where ever you are - thank you, young man! You have totally made my day!
