Updated picture as of November of last year:
WOW,
So, based on the comments that people have been leaving! I’d say that there are a lot of people still around… I’m so glad that you are all still out there and keeping tabs… I’ve always been bad about reading other peoples journals, but as I depart this October with laptop in hand (still up in the air on that one), I should have more than enough time to not only update my journal, but be able to read everyone’s journal as well. So thanks again for sticking around and posting…
With that said, I’ll give ya a month by month breakdown (to the best of my memory) since I’ve been back from Iraq as of last September:
September:
Came home and started living normal again, lol. Was glad to see family again and see Noah off to school! Went back to work and got back into the swing of things.
October: Went out trick or treating with Noah and friends! Had a great time as usual! I LOVE Halloween!!!! October, I also hit my 9-year mark in the Marines!
November: I was promoted to Staff Sergeant! Can’t say that I thought I’d see the day, if you were to ask me 9 years ago where I would be… I honestly wouldn’t have said this… all in all, I like where I’m at… it keeps me busy and that is what I like. Had Thanksgiving! GOOD FOOD all around, another favorite holiday for me! Just cause I get to eat a lot of food!
December: Went to COLD Vermont, to see Marcie’s family. Noah loved the snow, it was TOO COLD to really enjoy it, got to see a lot of her family and take some good pictures. It was good to get back to sunny California though… brrrr
January: Slow month, rang in the New Year… it was my mom’s b-day, so that was cool. Feel like I’m leaving something out around here… maybe I’ll come back to this later…
February: The month that I wish I could forget, my mom passed away… memorial was on Valentines Day. I flew home to Michigan, met up with a lot of family, it was the first time in too many years that I’ve seen that many people of my family… Makes me sad to think about it, I wish we could get a family reunion or something going… that would be great. I’m still not over it, nor do I think I will be anytime soon. I’ve been so busy with daily things, I just won’t allow myself to slow down and fact the reality that she is gone…. I’m stubborn, deal with it… lol Marcie’s b-day was on the 20th, we celebrated that. Also found out that I have orders to Japan coming up here in October… its either that or going back to Iraq in February of 2006… even though I still could go back to Iraq from Japan… doesn’t matter to me, honestly.
March: Noah’s birthday!!! We had a little military themed birthday party for him… I should post pictures here soon; I have a bunch to post, so look for those in the future…
April: Nothing much out of the normal…. If I forgot something, I apologize…
May: Had my 29th Birthday!! Later in the month, I returned home, back to Michigan to meet up with my brother (Tommy) and sister (Sherry), we then drove down to Tennessee to spread our mother’s ashes over our grandparents grave, that is what she wanted, so roughly around Mother’s day weekend, we made the 8 hour drive to and from Tennessee and did that. I suppose it was a bit of closure… but still not enough for me…
June: went to Quantico, Va for a work conference…. It was horrible humid there!! I don’t know how I dealt with living on the East Coast for so long… Viva La California!! Unfortunately the Detroit Pistons lost… gave it one hell of a run… just don’t know what happened… well I have my opinions, but not are against Detroit. Oh well, there is always next year… I just want HOCKEY TO COME BACK!!!
July: So far so good, had a good 4th of July, went to some tomato fields over here by the house and saw them from there… it was good to not be on some crowded beach and have to worry about parking… I’ve been hearing the horror stories all day… one of my good friends John is coming out here later this month, me, Marcie and John will be going down to san diego to see The Killers, and The White Stripes among some other bands… should be a good time.
So that is about it for an update… I’m sure I left some things out; I have a terrible memory… so if I can remember anything as I come back, and I will bring it up…
Still playing the FOOSBALL! Can’t say enough about that! Looking for some more players! So if you know anyone coming to the Oceanside area, send him or her my way.
If you have any questions or comments… let em rip…
Again, it’s good to see you guys again…
See ya soon,
Jesse
