ChuckaNOT Drive

Seems so far my livejournal has been mostly used to chat about my new bike. This clearly is an intolerable situation and one in which I will take immediate action to rectify... by posting another blurb about my new bike!

Woke up this morning, greeted by sun, warmth, and promising skies. After a week of ride-discouraging rainfall, finally I was presented with nice day again. Hearing tale of the scenic beauty of a Hwy 11 (otherwise known as Chuckanut Drive), I decided that I'd head up north and see what the stories were about. Feeling optimistic, I packed a kite, some gummy bears, and random stuff to relax and do, before getting on to I-5 and heading north.

Chuckanut Drive starts about 60 miles north of seattle... which was a nice cruise for the first 40 miles before the weather suddenly turned into all sorts of snark. Clouds, mist, rain, wind. Damnit.

I pressed on, having to stop right at the head of Chuckanut Drive at a cafe to try and dry myself out (and regain some heat). The weather simply wouldn't let up however, and when I finally gave up waiting for it, I knew I was defeated. I began the long, very wet, and very cold ride back. Of course, outside of Everett, the weather turned back to being lovely, warm, and sunny. Damnit.

Chuckanut Drive defeated me today... but I'll be back for a rematch.

Then I spent the evening with a group of friends and Dianne eating Moroccan food at Marrakesh (restaurant on belltown) -- sitting on pillows, eating with our hands and watching belly dancers. Quite fun, but nothing really to write about.

Oh, and I've recently met someone who, so far, seems to completely rock. Don't want to jinx it at this point.. so uh, I won't speculate but, suffice to say, it's *very* interesting ;)
