It's been a lazy Saturday here so I'll write my introduction or whatever you call it.
Well, i'm a born and bred Singaporean. I'm guessing i'm older than most of you at the ripe old age of 27. I moved to the US (Georgia to be exact) 2ish years ago. I didn't move here for school. I had a job I loved back in Singapore and completed my certification in Special Ed at NIE paid by the school I worked at. I was also in a long distance relationship spending all our savings traveling to and fro at least twice a year on both our sides. I won't bore you with the love story except that we met online on IRC back in 1998 and ended up dating couple years later. He proposed, I accepted and the logical thing to do was for me to move. It wasn't a tough decision. I have no liking for Singapore. Of course I did not think about how much I would miss my family, friends and the food until I finally made the move. I have bouts of homesickness now and then especially during the holidays but I love my life here and am very happily married.
I work in an elementary school as an aide to a 1st grader with special needs in a regular ed. class. I love my job. I am also going to school to earn my degree in Special Edn. so I can teach and earn more money. Currently we live in a spacious 2 bedroom apartment outside of Atlanta. We're ready to look for a house and become a first time homeowner. I can't wait. You know the dreams you can only dream of as a kid in Singapore, a two storey house with a nice yard, i can be reality for me now except now I am rethinking the two level part because I will be the one cleaning :P
To cut the story short, I am in a happy place.
Hope to read about all of you and perhaps make new friends. You can never have too many friends. And if you live in GA that would be double awesome! ;)
