"Surely you have better things to attend your time to than speculating on Merlin's doings?"
He shifted in his chair, contemplating his drink, rather than the question. "It does seem an abnormally long time since his last appearance, doesn't it?"
"The wizard comes and goes as he wishes, Percival. You will learn this in time."
He lifted a shoulder in a shrug, and glanced over at the older knight. "It just...doesn't feel right."
There was an amused sound behind him, as a knight closer to his age shifted from the wall and moved to join him at the table. His expression held amusement, and a definite triumph. "Perhaps, Young One, your concern is less for the Wizard, and more for the Lake Nymph."
The young knight, so christened Percival, turned a scowl to the other. "There is no such thing as a Lake Nymph. It merely felt strange. It is a worthwhile concern to address to His Majesty, especially in light of our soon approaching quest."
"What is this interest you show in Merlin and his doings?" The original knight with whom he had been speaking moved to lean against the table more fully. "He and his kind are tricksters, nothing more. It does no good to dwell on he, the Lake Nymph, or the Sorceress. We are knights, we should spend this time of peace in preparation for our great adventure to come, not in contemplation of wizardry."
"Sirs Bors and Tristan, surely we all have better things to do than debate the affairs of wizards." Arthur smiled, as he approached the table, waving away their scramble to kneel. "Come, my Knights, I have been searching for you for some time now, there is a meeting to be had. Merlin has returned."
