The Team: Five-0
Lt. Commander Steve McGarrett is the leader of Five-0. He is a former Navy SEAL, and spent several years with Naval Intellegence. The Governor gave them full immunity and means, and he pushes that to the extreme on occasion. He has been known to throw suspects in shark cages.
Detective Danny Williams is Steve's partner. He is originally from New Jersey, but moved to Hawaii after his ex-wife and daughter moved out to the islands. He's loud, animated, and isn't afraid to voice his opinion. He tries his best to get Steve to follow proper police procedure. Danny is a loving father, but his custody agreement with his ex-wife doesn't allow for much time with Grace.
Chin Ho Kelly was a former police officer with the Honolulu Police Department, or HPD. He was accused of corruption and eventually left the force. Steve recruits him for the task force, because he knows the island, and his father had worked with him and believed in him when no one else would. He is the tech geek of the group and is very handy with a computer. His weapon of choice is a shotgun.
Kono Kalalaua is the rookie of the group. She is Chin's cousin. Steve recruited her right before her graduation from the police academy. She was a former surf pro, but had to quit competing because of a knee injury. She may be the youngest and least experienced of the group, but she can definitely kick some major ass.
The Relationships
There are several relationships explored on the show, but these are the two that stand out most to me.
Danny hated Steve when they first met, but as the season went on, they grew to really like and depend on each other. They aren't only partners, they have become best friends, and as close as brothers. Their 'carguments' are a highlight of this relationship.
I really love the Danny and Grace relationship as well. They don't get to see each other often, but when they do, they make the most of their time together. Whenver Danny talks to her or sees her, he lights up. It is a wonderful thing. I also love the fact that Steve, at some point, became Uncle Steve. I'm hoping for more scene with them together.
Hawaii
Another thing that I love about Hawaii Five-0 is that they show off the fact that they are in Hawaii. After watching several episodes, I felt like I'd been there. It's as if the islands themselves are another character on the show. So beautiful. I want to go there so bad!
