Blog Entry #1: New Year's Resolutions

Jan 03, 2008 22:26

Okay, I know it's time for new year's resolutions, so here are mine:

1) School: Get back into school again. I know I've said this like a million times, but I really need to do this now! reason: $$$

2) House: I'm fed up with that money pit and it's time to sell. The HOA increased the monthly fees to $150 a month. Between that and the mortgage, I'm spending close to $1k a month in this thing: Fix it up. Put it out on the market. Sell it off.

3) Fitness: Get back into the gym and start a serious work out. I've already got my diet in the right direction: Just eat sensibly.

4) Cooking: Not for myself, but for others. If I'm going to have a chance to be a great cook, I have to practice more. Make a meal once a month to feed my coworkers...and fuck the company potlucks.

5) Fishing: I've been saying to myself it would be inexpensive if I caught my own food. Just need to get a fishing permit first. Shouldn't be too hard to do.

6) Blog: I've been neglecting my blogs for too long. I used to be a good writer, but I've fallen out of practice. So to get back into practice, I'm committing myself to one blog post a week. No matter how crazy it may turn out. Hopefully, I should have a minimum of 52 by the end of 2008. (Special thanks for Mythdude and Berrybuzz for renewing my love of writing again)

7) Reading: With the loss of my love of writing has gone my love of reading. I blame myself for this one. I remember the days when I would sit down in a bookstore until Mage?! caught me while the store was closing and put me to work cleaning the store. I miss those days and the ability to curl up with a good book.

8) Gaming: It's been a long time since I've been part of a really good gaming group. If anyone out there is looking for another gamer to add to their group, let me know. I want to play with a group of people that play for fun. No secrets, no superior planning, no major strategies. Just gaming.

9) "Toro": "Toro" is the japanese word for fatty tuna belly (I think), and my sister's little cat has one to brag about. So I'm going to change her name, or at least get to respond to the new one! Sorry sis, this one is too good to pass up.

Let's see how this year's resolutions go. I have 9 different opportunities, let's see if I can get one of them right.
