So My Computer is Finally Fixed

Feb 01, 2007 14:07

The desktop wherein all my notes for Sympathy for Eve and Unified Theory resided is now fixed. For those of you going, "Cool! So, UT tomorrow?" the answer is, unfortunately, no, probably not. See, there's SF club stuff that I've backburnered until I had a machine that could actually handle it. And now that I do, it needs done, like, 2 months ago. ( Read more... )

Crossing my fingers for you.

My own darling PC is trying to drive me into madness... Should kill windows and set it up again... But after last time I'm just scared. *facepalm*

Yeah. The hubby keeps talking about replacing this system, but I'm kinda... daunted by the thought of everything I'd have to move over.

Well, everytime I see your icon, I'd like to hand it to Mr Gates. Ahem.

I know I should kill my system. I already started backing up my files. But all these programmes I installed over time... All the adjustments I made so the system was working. Sort of. *facepalm*

Yes, men and computers. Where's McKay when you need him?! Though I wonder, if he had to fix my system, I'd gag him. The last time a guy told me how to fix my problems was: "buy a new one." Um, very accurate. Really. This was sooo emphatic and actually helpful. *grrrr*

I want my Amiga 1200 back. *sniff* In the old days everything was better. Carson still was there, my Amiga was working... *sigh* I need chocolate. Or a hug. Or both. Or a new computer.

Thanks for the hug. *sniff* *hugs back*

Wow! I met someone who actually knows what I am talking about. Dude!
If not for the McBeck already... I'd love you for that one. *lol*

I so loved Paint IV. God, that was awesome! And I had a cool proggy which I used to morph things. Like a banana into an aple, or Kirk into Spock. I can't remember the name.... But it was soooo cool!

The biggest prog I've ever installed was Indy Jones "The fate of Atlantis" on 11 disks!

You could install a prog and simply delete it.

You could actually multitask!

You could do a ram-scan for hidden soundfiles from games!

You could play games with 4 MB ram!

My first harddrive had 70 MB - now I own a memory stick that is the size of my little finger - and it has 126 MB memory...

Incredible!

Yes! Actually being able to multitask with 512k. An operating system that didn't bloat and bloat and bloat. *sigh*

We actually have one of our old Amigas in the bedroom, but the harddrive's been taken out, so it won't actually run.
