A Podficcer's Request:

Nov 24, 2008 20:35

Hello everyone, as you can see by the title, I have a request for you. I am a student at Loyola University Chicago currently working on a senior project for my English Honors program, and the subject, believe it or not, is fandom. I am working on a podcast that will consist of interviews done with people who participate in various aspects of fandom that together will present a well-rounded view of what fandom and fandom participants are like and to do that, I need your help. I have some requests out to the general fandom public, but I would also like to get input from people who participate in ways that branch out from the traditional writing and reading of fanfiction.

Total anonymity as far as RL identities will be kept in place unless I have your express permission, and none of the materials used to create the podcast will be published outside my class without the permission of everyone who contributed. This interview would take place within the next two weeks so I can finish the project in time for the end of the semester.

The interview could take several forms, either as a voice interview either on Skype or similar program, or over the phone (again, the total anonymity thing, your number will NOT leave my hands), or as a chat, typewritten interview, though then I will probably recruit someone to read your part of the interview like a script for the podcast. The interview will probably last somewhere around half an hour and will cover the following: a few innocuous details about your RL (age, profession, etc, nothing identifiable), discussion about how you participate in fandom, how you got into the community, and what you like and dislike about it.

This is an opportunity to chat and share your views about podficcing in fandom, something that doesn't usually get a large amount of attention, but is something awesome nonetheless! Please don't be intimidated by the fact that I am calling it an interview, this is all really low pressure and I won't be asking you questions about things you haven't discussed with friends already. If your first thought upon reading this is, "Oh, she wouldn't be interested in what I have to say," that it totally not true! I want to hear from any and all of you! Anyway, I can't do this without you, so thanks a bunch!!

If you are interested, you can either comment here, or at my journal, or contact me at the following email: kmcnic1 at luc dot edu. Thanks again!

ETA: Wow, I've already gotten one response, but I'd love to talk to more than one of you, so please feel free to still throw in your two cents!
