Hey, are there any fics where one of the characters (well, okay, John) is subjected to a Stockholm-y situation but it doesn't take? I don't mean the classic itertion of the syndrome, I mean the fanfic kind, where someone drags off a character and tries to turn them to the dark side or whatever. I'd really like something where someone tries to ( Read more... )

Well it's McShep and it's definitely failed Stockholm Syndrome, but sorry, it's Rodney not John who's subjected to it: The Dark Side by astolat

A sort of Stockholmy thing doesn't quite take with John in ltlj's Deflection, which can be read as a sequel to or in the same verse as Refraction, both gen.

Jury's out on whether it stuck in this one, but overall I think it fits your request. And it is John who's kidnapped.

It's Always Autumn in the Old Trees of Despair has attempted brainwashing/Stockholm syndrome that doesn't work completely, but John doesn't blow up stuff in the end and there's a lot of trauma and torture. Gen.

Sadly, while I read that once, it was such a shattering experience I'll never read it again. Every moment is seared into my brain! I get flashbacks! ::traumatized:: All compliments to the author, of course, for managing to create such an experience. Novels aren't often experiences, in themselves.

You might try Overload by Lorr - it has a brainwashed Sheppard who "tries" to blow stuff up.
