Arizona Robbins Essay
An essay of why Arizona Robbins is my favorite character in Grey's Anatomy. I did this for a challenge on shonda_land
Why Arizona Robbins in my Favorite Character?

To a lot of the characters in the show Grey's Anatomy, Arizona Robbins is a perky, happy all the time character that sometimes acts like a child. However, for me, she is a character filled with so many deifferent emotions. One would be that she is a happy character, which is one of the reasons she is such a great character to love because you know that at some point, she will make you smile. She also has shown emotions like comfort, sadness and the fact that she stands up for the people she cares about. Arizona is the kind of character that everyone should look up to. Out of all the characters on Grey's Anatomy, Arizona Robbins is my favorite for these reasons.
Emotions have a way of bringing out different things in a character. Arizona Robbins is one of these characters that have shown different kinds of emotions. Being a PEDs surgeon has to help save children and you can tell by the way she is with them, that she was made to be a PEDs surgeon. She not only helps them but she also plays games with them or laughs with them, she is the picture of happiness. Always smiling all the time, dimples and all, she will shine her way in to anyones heart. If someone had to choose a doctor to represent happiness it would be Arizona without a doubt.
However even Arizona can't stay happy forever. So not only is she great showing off her happier side but she can really show her other emotions too. She seems to be a tough character on the outside but then we get an episode like 6.08 Invest in Love and we get to see a little deeper inside of the perky PEDs surgeon. When a child dies, she cries, that's who she is. As doctors they had to take courses to not get attached to their patients but Arizona crosses that line and gets attached. So when a patient like Wallace Anderson dies, she lets out her emotions. The perky PEDs surgeon that everyone knew as being happy and cheery all the time turns out to be just as normal as everyone else.
Underneath all the perkiness and the sadness, stands a strong character. This is what makes Arizona who she is. She was taught to be a good man in a storm. So when Carlos came in 6.05 Invasion, she wasn't going to stand by and let him make Callie feel like she is in the wrong. If Callie wanted to be with a woman, it was okay. You can't help who you fall in love with, it just happens, in a blink of an eye you can fall in love. Arizona knew that she had to stand up to him and tell him that he was in the wrong. One thing that Arizona said to Carlos about Callie, that sticks out for me, "...she's who you raised her to be". Something so simpl means so much. In this scene we got to see the real Arizona Robbins. For me, I had always liked Arizona from the beginning but after watching that moment she became my number one character because she is an incredible character.
Arizona Robbins is such a diverse character. She is filled with so many different emotions. Some are good, like when she makes a child smile or lights up a room with her dimpled out grin. However some of her emotions are darker, like crying when a patient dies. One thing that shines through is that she is a character that stands up for what she believes in.
