Lily was just a few minutes early to the weekly briefing. It was in the middle of the day, she was off duty at the time, but this was always important. At least she thought so. She ran her fingers through her hair and thought about the past week. It was as interesting as ever. Then again, there was something that she wanted more than anything.
A team of her own.
She was qualified and that was what she had signed up for. Lily had been told that she would be a gate team leader, no doubt about it. Atlantis needed another one, even if it was just for backup! There was no reason to be held back. Yeah, she had been going out with a random group of people every time she went on a mission, but she wanted one that she could go all of the time with.
There were times she envied Colonel Sheppard.
He had a team of his own. People he cared about, people he would die for unconditionally. Lily had had that when she was just a part of a team back on Earth. That was how she lived. She leaned on people and they naturally looked at her as their leader. After their leader of the team had been killed, Lily took his spot and led. She wasn't afraid.
Lily looked at her watch and realized that it was only ten minutes until the others arrived.
