It is utterly amazing to think this is the 7th year for Squee Weekend… let me repeat that, the SEVENTH YEAR of meeting amazing Stargate Atlantis fans (who have become dear friends, nay family), seven years of episode re-watching and thought-provoking discussion (some of which are definitely saucy and not much appreciated by random folk around the outside fire pit); seven years of fun and lasting friendships and feeling as if you've truly come home!
What: A weekend (or more - come early, stay late) of Stargate Atlantis squee... watching favorite episodes, discussing favorite episodes (and other various topics of interest), watching and discussing our favorite characters and more. No set agenda, just a weekend getaway with lots of food, drink, talk and laughter. Contrary to popular belief, we are not a bunch of drunken revelers (I mean, it's been six years and nobody's been arrested yet… although we have been known to clear public patios in record time). While there may be adult beverages consumed, don't feel this leaves you out if you're a teetotaler - if you're a fangirl/fanboy, that's all that matters.
When: The weekend is October 7-9, 2016; however, most of us arrive early and hang around for a while once the weekend is over, so feel free to join us. The rooms are held from Wednesday to Wednesday (October 5-12). The weather here in South Carolina should be lovely for those discussions around the fire pit.
Where: Beautiful Greenville, South Carolina. The hotel is mere minutes from the Greenville-Spartanburg International Airport (GSP) and is readily accessible by car. (fangirls stand ready for airport shuttle service). We've secured a block of rooms at the Residence Inn by Marriott. We have such a wonderful working relationship with these folks - you really will feel at home. This year only 1BR and 1BR Studios are available at $129 per night. The hotel has done an outstanding job of keeping our rates low from year to year. Room rates include a full breakfast buffet every day and on certain days a happy hour get-together with light food and beverages. High speed internet access and WiFi are also included. All rooms include fully equipped kitchenette and pullout sofa bed so sharing is definitely a possibility (if that makes it easier for you).
There are several areas of the hotel suitable for breakout discussions, a chance to catch your breath, or just to take a walk. We even get the conference room all to ourselves, usually Thursday thru Monday, but for sure during the weekend. Like I said, there's no agenda or set schedule - it's tres organic. We're also close to shopping, food, restaurants, and caffeine! But don't think you're right in the middle of it - the hotel is situated so that it's off the main roadways and even outside, you're not bombarded with noise. (Melagan here: this year we're trying out a very loose schedule of conversation topics. Things like Slash, Fandom love, Writing the male/or female perspective and the love of reading fanfic as examples. We'll see how it goes).

As the SGA fandom activity has waned over the years, it's nice to know that there are still folk out there who love the show and want to get together and talk about it. Not that we don't go off on tangents into other things: writing, reading, crafts, coffee, food, Rodney McKay's ass and why it should be worshipped… well, you get the idea. One thing's certain - we have loads of fun and we hope you'll consider joining us this year!
