This is excellent. I love your writer's voice, and I think your John and Teyla are fantastic.

This story just made my day! Completely hilarious, and all the off-kilter but recognizable versions of the Mensa AU characters were terrific. Some of the high points were: John's soul patch, which made me laugh hysterically every time it was mentioned, Sumner being alive, cranky and knitting, the Sisterhood of the Traveling Explosives, Teyla putting her arm around John at the movie night, and pretty much any of the times people were playing (or attempting to play) footsie. *does a dance of joy*

Thanks! That's one of the reasons I like AUs--license to be even more goofy with the characters than normal. :-)

This is genius! I loved this so much! Please, please write more in this AU. The characterizations were dead-on. I love how no matter how different things were in this AU, the essential character of each person was still the same. Teyla was reserved and yet fierce. John was snarky and emotionally inept; Ronon was still so Ronon. Lorne, Sumner (the knitting was hilarious), everyone. Incredible job fleshing out the characterizations. John's cluelessness and inability to talk about emotions or general "never see it coming" was perfect. I adored his POV, every bit of it. His terrorizing of Eldon and his other assistant, his indulging of his geeky and dorky side (shout out to his Nintendo DS Lite addiction even), the running feud with "pigeon perv" Zelenka (LOL!!!!!!!), his wandering gypsy childhood, his loving to fly all seem perfectly John despite being so different. You've devised so many fascinating, thoughtful and original possible scenarios for this AU: the Athosians as imperialists (30 colonies-WHOA), the gender role reversals, ( ... )

Thanks! I don't know if I'll ever revisit this 'verse, but you never know...I never did get Teyla's POV on most of this.

About the Athosians--I didn't mean to imply that they were necessarily imperialist, but that spreading their people across many worlds was a survival strategy against the Wraith. Since the Athosians we see in canon seem to be down to just Teyla's village (what's left of it) I thought it would be an interesting reversal to have them as a large and influential society on whom the expedition is dependent instead of vice-versa.
