Rewatching while I'm sick, so randomly commenting... I haven't done this before, so I hope it's right! (Oops, okay, I think I was supposed to have done this last week, but this is my sick week, so I'm going to do both The Storm and The Eye

Welcome! And sure, you're doing it right! (Folk may be watching the entry for "The Eye" at this point, though. If anyone's there at all, that is. Echoooooo ....)

Yeah, you'd think after John's "negotiations" with the Genii, he'd be the last person Elizabeth would send out to ask for favors, wouldn't you?

I'm not sure Aiden does have the gene, at least yet - apparently in "Hot Zone" he hasn't yet had the gene therapy and is therefore susceptible to the virus.

Rodney/Radek geeking out, yay! I should revisit that scene more often. I've never tried to incorporate that aspect into my fic, and I totally should!

Ah, that's right, Aiden doesn't have the gene in "Hot Zone"... Carson really should have said "I'm not a real pilot." It's odd that Ford doesn't ask for the gene therapy earlier. You'd think that as a soldier, he wouldn't want to rely on *McKay* being their back-up pilot on missions.

Heh. That's a good point ... but in terms of mindset, he's a Marine, so he might just not really think in those terms yet. With the jumpers, you need to be a pilot (of sorts) to "drive" ... but then again, they don't seem to take the jumpers on all that many early missions. Until "Hot Zone", there doesn't seem to be a huge advantage to having the gene, at least not for lower-rank Marine officers; and it is still an experimental therapy, which might make him nervous. All those stories of experimental treatments used on soldiers .... (Watch me spin! :>)

But it's a good spin! It is therapy that is non-FDA approved, which could easily make Ford leery. Even with FDA-approved drugs, they still seem to have nasty side effects that frequently go undiscovered for years.

And I do fall into thinking in fanon terms, where people with the gene can turn off lights, etc., but we never see that much connection between the people and the city in canon. I suppose in day-to-day canon life, having the gene is most useful to the scientists, and not of much consequence to the soldiers.
