INT. ATLANTIS GATE ROOM - AFTERNOON
SGA-1 returns through the gate. Rodney is giggling.
SHEPPARD:
(tiredly)
Don’t you think that’s enough, McKay?
MCKAY:
Hey, it’s not every day I get to see you cowering in terror.
SHEPPARD:
(glaring)
I didn’t cower in terror!
MCKAY:
Well, this…
(waves a camera in Sheppard’s face)
…says otherwise.
They make their way up the gate room stairs to join Elizabeth, Ronon, and Teyla on the upper level.
ELIZABETH :
(Smiling)
Welcome back. I take it Queen Harmony gave you a nice send off?
MCKAY:
Ooh, wait ‘till you see the pictures-
SHEPPARD:
(cuts him off)
Everything went fine. We solidified the trade agreement…
John continues talking to Elizabeth .
Ronon moves closer to Rodney.
RONON:
What pictures?
MCKAY:
Oh, Harmony had a painting commissioned to commemorate the victory.
Rodney turns on the camera.
John overhears Ronon and Rodney and turns to grab the camera. Ronon blocks his hand easily. Teyla moves up behind him as Rodney pokes a few buttons on the camera. He turns it so both Teyla and Ronon can see the screen. Ronon stares at it and then smirks at Sheppard. John sighs and seems to deflate a little.
TEYLA:
(Voice level and innocent)
It… is a very good painting.
MCKAY:
(smiling down at the camera screen)
It is, isn’t it?
(Looking up at Elizabeth, who is watching them with an amused expression)
Want to see?
SHEPPARD:
That’s enough, McKay. We should go get checked out.
MCKAY:
Are you kidding, this is golden.
(He shuts down the camera and turns to leave, heading for the infirmary. Sheppard falls in step behind him, Ronon and Teyla following.)
Guess you should have believed me about the power bar.
SHEPPARD: You’re still on about that power bar thing?
(Teyla opens her mouth to ask a question, but Sheppard stops her.)
Don’t ask.
RONON:
So I guess you’ll be doing most of the trade missions there from now on.
MCKAY:
(surprised)
What?
SHEPPARD:
(smirking)
There’s a thought. Harmony obviously likes you, McKay.
MCKAY:
But, uh… No! She’s a kid-
TEYLA:
It may be a good idea to have Rodney there, at least for the next few meetings. Queen Harmony obviously likes and respects him.
MCKAY:
Ok, let’s go back to the subject of the painting. We don’t need to steer this in a ‘me hanging out with a crazy child’ direction..
(They continue down the hall, McKay’s voice drifting back)
Think I’m gonna get this picture framed…
Sheppard groans and Ronon snorts in amusement. FADE OUT.
