AU - John, Rodney and gambling dens.
Minimum word length: 2,000
Maximum word length: None whatsoever.
Character(s): Sheppard, McKay (definite), Ronon, Teyla (if you wish), other Stargate characters (inc. SG1) welcome as well.
Plot idea: AU - the idea came to me when listening to the Beautiful South’s song, The Domino Man, but you don’t need to know that song or take it too literally if you do. Basically, Sheppard is running from his past (something bad), gambling his way through the murky dens of the world (including Asia/The East), and surviving. Rodney is running from something bad in his past as well (and maybe something now, like a baddie/rogue-NID-type group/other baddie-type group). What he’s doing to survive is up to you (so long as it’s gen and in character with our Rodney; i.e. not an assassin!!). The two of them meet and end up helping each other in some way - and become friends along the way. That’s it, the rest of what happens is totally up to you; whether the SGC exists or not, whether Ronon, Teyla, other characters are around or not, where they end up (and what they end up doing), etc, etc - but I want gambling dens and seedy bars - and keep it gen! And not a sad or depressing ending, but not necessarily a happy-happy one either!
Genre: AU with some Angst, Action/Adventure, Friendship. Humour would be nice, Hurt/Comfort is also fine, but please nothing really smarmy or out of character!
Don’t want: Horror, Supernatural, Heavy Smarm, Non-con.
Definitely want: Seedy back streets, bars, gambling dens.
Anything else: If at all possible, if there is a baddie could it not be Koyla? I have no problem with using him (I have a WIP Earth-based AU with him after all) but I'd like for this story for it to be someone else (could still be a stargate character, or an OC). However, I won't complain if you do use him!
