2012 Associated works: permissions and announcements

Jun 25, 2012 12:15

I think the presumption of this fest has been that associated works (such as art for posted fics) is fine without prior permission, at least during the fest's "open" period. However, I know not all authors feel that way, at least not necessarily about all works.

Therefore: Authors and artists of the main event, if you're willing, please leave an ( Read more... )

I welcome any and all associated, transformative, or derivative works based on my fics**. (This includes but is not limited to art, podfics, meta, translations, remixes, and in-same-universe fics.) Prior notification is not required.

(** This is my standing policy for all of my fics, including this year's Genficathon.)

Restrictions: I do ask that credit be given. (A "based on [Work X] by michelel72" comment or similar is fine, as is use of the "inspired by" linking system at AO3; hyperlinking to a copy of my fic is also fine.) If I'm told such a work has been created, I'll add links to that work from my fics.

Art for "Clipped" has been added to the collection on AO3, as it was inspired by one of this year's fics. However, on second thought, I am not sure if that was the way to go. In any case, you can release or announce it as per your plan for extra works or let me know if I should report it somewhere first.

I hope it does justice to your wonderful story.

On the off chance someone found my fic inspiring: do what you will with it!*

*Not including outright plagiarism.

Jayne and I are happy for people to use *our fic as inspiration, preferably with a link to our fic/credit and also preferably keeping it gen. You don't have to contact us first, but it'd be nice for us to see the finished fanwork, so please let me know (if you can) that it's posted and I'll let Jayne know!

*All other fic that I've written solo is open too, again with credit and kept on the gen side of things, and again let me know so I can see the fanwork based on it! Other fics co-written with Jayne, contact me first so I can check with her.

Outright plagiarism is, of course, not welcome!

I have a standing policy of welcoming any and all works based on or inspired by mine, so go ahead if you like! I would appreciate a head's up, though. :)

If anyone finds my fic (or any other fic I've written) inspiring in some way, knock yourself out. Art, podfic, meta, remixes, translations, whatever. Though I would like a link when you're finished to see what you've done!
