A few days after fics run out - Authors revealed

** Edited 23 January 2012

I've modeled this on the 2011 schedule, give or take, with a few things shifted very slightly to account for my work schedule. Does anyone see any problems with this? If any of these dates or days-of-week are inconvenient (for example, the Saturday events for those who are shomer Shabbat), please do let me know - I'm happy to make whatever adjustments are the most welcoming for folks!

Changes for 2012:
The most readily apparent change is that I'm making this post, as sholio has stepped back. I'm delighted to do what I can to keep this fest going, but I will warn you now: This is my first time running a fandom anything. I will do my best, but I'm feeling my way through this, and I ask that you have patience with me. leesa-perrie has previously indicated that she will again coordinate artist match-ups, and it's my hope that she will be willing and able to do so.

The next most apparent change, and the far more significant one, is that stories will be hosted on Archive of Our Own (AO3) this year, not Livejournal. This is far easier for me, since authors can load their own works while I take care of the anonymous/reveal flags and daily fic releases. This also gives authors far more control over their works; no more fretting over a silly typo that you can't quite bring yourself to email the posting moderator to fix. (If I've followed correctly, you can also designate another AO3 user as a cowriter, allowing them to help you with edits, and then remove that user later. If that's accurate, I will be happy to serve in that capacity as needed.) I know that AO3 isn't perfect and that some folks have their own reasons for not using them, but I think this will provide the most workable option for this year.

That means that writers (and artists?) will need to be members of AO3. If you aren't currently a user there, contact me with your email address and I'll send you an invite; I have a whole batch for this fest. See below for contact information.

Are we leaving Livejournal? No. All coordination will happen here, and I'll post the daily fic reveals during the posting phase here as well. Those announcement posts can remain open for comment collection if the authors/artists prefer that; we can have that discussion over time. In addition, for folks who just can't or won't sign up at AO3, I'm thinking of having a "bonus round" at the end in which those folks can post directly to LJ (or have me post them, whichever; we'll see).

Final notes:
Minor question #1: Should I create a mirror comm at DW for announcements? I'll be posting significant dates at the Fandom Calendar community there, but would folks have use for a full mirror DW comm?

Minor question #2: Should this comm be switched to a style that doesn't use the new LJ comment scheme?

That's all I have for the moment. Please let me know of any questions, concerns, problems, AO3 invite requests, or general thoughts. I can be reached by comment here; by PM here or at DW; or by email (I have the same username @livejournal.com, @gmail.com, or @dreamwidth.org; those all eventually reach me at Gmail). Where possible, please note "SGA Gen" or similar in the subject line so that I can keep track. Otherwise, see you in a few weeks!
