Oh, boys. I just love how gorgeous and hurty this is, but still with the perfectly happy ending, which makes it even better than some fairy tales.

Aww, thanks. It did come out awfully hurty, but the fairy tale itself ends happily, so I couldn't change that part. ;)

Oh. I...oh. It's been a long time that a story with a happy ending has hurt so badly. I've been staring at this comment box for awhile, because I just don't know what to say. It was marvelously done, everyone's voices were absolutely spot-on. I think...the idea that love can hurt isn't a new one, but it is so very John - that he flatly rejects Rodney because of how much he loves him and how much he feels honor-bound to do his job. The last scene, with Rodney trying to understand John, was just perfect.

And yes yes yes, that's it exactly. When I started thinking about the fairy tale, I knew John had to be the one with the heart that gets frozen, because he's the one who keeps it inside. But I never doubt that he feels things strongly.
