woah. COOL! I like the dreams and Ascended Sheppard. I like that we the readers knew what had happened as soon as John mentioned Daniel Jackson, but poor Dave had to wait until the end...

Ha ha, they never stay Ascended, do they? :)

Doesn't seem like it. The Stargate 'verse is almost as bad as the Buffy 'verse that way.

Oh hey, cool. Love Sam's eulogy/speech.

But Dave knows Rodney? Did I miss something?

I'm figuring Dave knows Rodney's name the way I know Stephen Hawking's name -- as a scientist of some renown. I'm also betting that Dave's at least as bright as his brother and interested in the science that drives the research department of the Sheppard "utilities" company.

Also, glad you liked the eulogy!

Huh, true, particularly if they've been releasing anything related to the n-generators or ZP Energy. McKay's name would probably be plastered all over those.

I doubt McKay's ever published anything about zero point energy since he doesn't seem to know how ZPMs are made himself, but he spent years in Russia working on naquadah generators. If a substantial part of major national power grids are now being fed from generators that provide Chernobyl-level current from something the size of an engine block, I bet it would be very hard to keep the heads of utility companies from finding out eventually.

Oh, so cool!

But, how did Dave know Rodney McKay? *intrigued*

I'm going on the assumption that McKay is at least as renowned as he claims to be and that Dave is as bright as his brother. Since Patrick Sheppard was in utilities, I made another leap of faith and figured Dave would be interested in the science behind power production. So he's aware of the scientist but not of the connection between him and John.

Ah, I see, thank you. Again, very cool. :)

Interesting that John came to his twin and not his team. The mention of the family life and John and Dave's interactions certainly seem in line with the show's canon. I also liked that Sam didn't impress him, but John calls her brilliant because it's a clear message to us readers that this isn't just a dream, as is his his mention of Daniel. Now I have to wonder what happened that John ascended. Hey, does his twin have the gene, too?

In my head, yes, Dave has the gene as well. Also, no matter how pissy twins may get with each other, they've still known each other longer than anyone else and know just what buttons to push to get under each other's skin. I figured it would be just a little bit easier for John to get in touch with Dave for that reason alone.
