Hey, for the sake of regularity, could you tuck the first para back under the cut tag, and put "by [Authorname]" into the subject line? It'll save me a TON of time in the archiving! Thanks!!

ADMIN: Don't worry about it! It's the first challenge, there's all sorts of mistakes going on. Just, I'd like to get people into good habits, because it will take SO much less time in the long run.

Just me: John didn’t think it took a genius to predict what would happen if he, now the ranking military officer, were found wandering the hallways of Atlantis and activating only McKay knew what in his sleep. This is a BRILLIANT premise; how I would love to see a whole story just based on that idea! Maybe even a challenge, the sleepwalking challenge.

My other favorite bit in the story: Rodney banging on the coffee machine. *g* (See icon!)

I like this! Getting to know each other, and while it might be too soon to be friends, they do make good allies. And beating on the coffee maker, lol!

McKay was insufferably belligerent, but at least he was practical.

Just how John loves him *g*

Ooooh, nice! I love the insight into John's mind here, how overwhelmed he must feel. And this--

because he answered John in a perfectly level and nonchalant tone of voice, crossing his arms behind his back in an attempt to hide his mutilated coffee maker as he did so.

LOL, that is so marvelous. And so very Rodney. ::giggles:: I can just picture it.

Oh man, I am really torn. This is a very nicely constructed piece, with crisp prose and believable characterization. However, last time I checked, sleepwalking would get you thrown out of the US military. Really. I had a friend wash out of basic because of it. Anyone with a tendency to go walkabout during high stress situations would be a huge liability in the field and would most likely be given a medical discharge and shipped back home.

Darn. Oh, well. Let's just say that John hides it well and someone covered for him in the prior incident I mentioned.

That could work, if it was something that happened very rarely. He wouldn't be the first soldier to try to conceal a problem that could potentially end his career.
