Excellent story! I really love your Rodney-voice. It sounds very much like him, the little annoyed sounds and the thinking out loud. Excellent.

A lot of people do genderswitch stories but we rarely get to see them from an outside perspective, and I really think that this was an excellent and well-used plot device.

Something that really did it for me, to cement Kolya`s characterization for me, was the fact that he doesn`t trust Lantean things enough to eat chocolate himself, but is curious enough to taste it on other people.

I would very much like to read more of this, if you do decide to keep going.

Well, thank you! And here I was afraid I was losing my Rodney voice - I had such a hard time writing his/her dialogue for this. And I've wanted to write a genderswitch story for a long time, and a McKay/Kolya story since I first saw 'The Storm'. I finally managed both!

Er...if you go back and reread the bit about chocolate, you'll see that Kolya got it from other people who were afraid to eat it. He didn't have a problem with eating it. I had the notion, while writing this, that Kolya sort of collects Earth stuff. He'd keep all the stuff in Rodney's tac vest for himself, and take it out to examine and ponder over...

Damn. Well, maybe I will write more, once my other fictual obligations (which I'm procrastinating horribly on) are finished.

Thanks again!

Aaaaaaaaand now that's exactly what I'd like to read. Ooh, it could be so good and creepy. SGA needs more creepy stuff. So few people write it. *pouts*

I'll think about continuing or expanding this, but I have other stories that really need to be worked on. But like I said, anyone who wants to take this and run with it, feel free.

Ooh, I like this too. I don't get the willies enough in the SGA fandom ;-)

Thank you!

For good SGA willies, I recommend auburnnothenna and Martha (her SGA fics are on the Wraithbait Archive)>

I completely agree. Fluff and angst is nice, but people tend to pull their punches a lot when it comes to really horrifying and creepy stuff.

I want to write one of my own, but I`m trying to slog through some of my other fic first.

I`ve read parts of Seven Walls, which Ellex suggests for you, but msgordo`s "Love`s Tangled Web" is really powerful as well.

Happy reading!

And I could see him trying to woo McKay in a really creepy, creepy way after he's recaptured her/him.

Yes, please! :::offers cookies:::

Ooh, yes, cool! That's it exactly, and Kolya himself is completely messed up about this. My feeling is that by 'Common Ground', Kolya is teetering on the edge of bonkers, and clearly obsessed with revenge. And there's this weird undercurrent between Kolya and McKay all through 'The Storm/The Eye' that really intrigues me.

There's an excellent story - I think it's called 'Broken' and the authors are Kat Reitz and Tzigane (IIRC) that's a bit like your comment fic-ish thing here. It was one of the influences that gave me the idea for this story.

It had me hunkering down in my chair going "Nooooo. Canon wouldn`t really go there, would it? Woobie Rodney! Don`t hurt Woobie Rodney!" I honestly thought we were on the verge of actual sexual violence in a SG franchise.

I shall have to look up that fic. I personally am both horrified by and loving Love`s Tangled Web in which Rodney is truly terrorized. She pulls absolutely no punches. To me this is a very, very realistic rendition of how it feels to actually be helpless, and it makes my heart try to crawl out of my mouth. (I really hope she updates soon)

This story gave me the same sensation, my heart fluttering in my throat and my stomach twisting all up and my tea sitting in the bottom of my stomach like a ball of rock.

I would seriously love to see more of your fic, and steal as many of my little ideas as you want. I`ll even give you more, if you want them!

"Love's Tangled Web" is such a guilty delight...I go back and reread it from the beginning on a regular basis. I'm eager for an update, too!

I have two stories that absolutely have to be finished by mid-April (and I really shouldn't have procrastinated by working on this), and then I have a couple of AU's I really, really want to write - one of which should grab you much like this did, if I get it right.

*sigh* I don't have enough time to read fic, let alone write it!

I found it! The story that gave me the idea for 'Keeping Doctor Meredith' in the first place is Not Where You Live by Kat Reitz and Tzigane.

Thanks! I just finished reading the one where Rodney has cancer and *UH* my heart hurts. Great writers.
