Totally! And I'm hoping Season 4 will let us in just a little bit. Jeez by this time, we knew everything about SG1. I ain't gonna lie, I need to know about Sheppard like yesterday.
It was a little startling to go back and watch early episodes of SG-1 and to realize that by the middle of the FIRST season we knew at least as much about the main group as we do about the SGA people after three years! On the other hand, though, I'm enjoying the very slow reveal on SGA ... I do hope we get some more about Sheppard next season though.
Thank you so much! I needed an outsider POV on the team and she seemed ideal; it was interesting to think about how she views each of them, and the different things that she might have picked up over the years that even they aren't fully aware of.
Thank you very much! *laughs* It's very similar in style to yours, I realized when I read yours, although I'd written mine before reading any of the other challenge responses! I expect a lot of people will do something along these lines.
*grin* I think it's more just a natural way of responding to this particular challenge. After all, the team members all have hidden depths to them. But yours is definitely a distinct take on it.
Very nice. I particularly like John's. I can see John doing that in school. He would have been one of those kids that drove a teacher right up the wall...the sort that did well enough but could do so much better if he just tried a bit harder...
Thank you! (And i just now did a tiny bit of tweaking on the word choice, in John's in particular ... the first sentence just wasn't *working* for me the way it was, but I like it better now.)
I agree totally ... I imagine that all the authority figures in John's life have had a similar reaction, that he COULD be an excellent student/soldier/whatever, but he just DOESN'T.
Ahh, the old "won't do, not can't do." Drives the people around them crazy. This was very perceptive. As for the canon slow reveal, so much very good fanfic has been written to fill in the spaces that I almost shudder to think what might happen in canon. I was very happy to see your take on the characters borne out in canon season three. May it so continue. :-)
This was a fascinating character study through Elizabeth's eyes, she's able to see through the layers of each soul after so many years and knows their tells and the things they hold the most dear by how they hide it.
Especially liked: She does not want to know what sort of youth he must have had, to bury him in so many layers of bitterness like the skins of an onion.
and John Sheppard, run very deep indeed: the razor-sharp intellect, the steel will and courage, and the capacity to love that may be greater than in anyone else she has known
Her other observations were right on point, including NOT knowing Ronon but truly have a feel based on what she's heard.
Thank you so much! I couldn't help thinking of Rodney, in particular, in terms of the onion metaphor, because there are so many layers to him. (He'd probably hate knowing that Elizabeth thinks about him that way, though!)
