*giggles a lot* Ah, nothing exceeds like excess.

There was an urban legend floating around about a professor of something very abtruse -- I forget what -- who took a sabbatical for a year and cornered the market on something common and needed, like peas or toilet paper, in order to prove to his family and extended family once and for all that he could hack it in the "real world" if he didn't have better things to do with his time.

Seriously, Holi is one of the festivals that I'd love, in the spirit of ecumenicism, to be invited to participate in. It looks like a great deal of fun.

(And also, I completely sympathize with the idea that opt-in activities should also be opt-out.) ^_^

*blinks innocently* But then people would be able to avoid getting covered in paint. And that would be bad.

I don't know -- I think everyone but Jinto and Wex would be much, much happier if McKay and Zelenka had been able to choose to merely have their faces painted like Elizabeth's.

(The boys think the watercannons are the coolest thing ever, except for maybe Dr. Andersen's LEGOs and Tellurian instant ramen.)

Thank you!

Honestly, this was the first story idea the challenge threw at me, and most of it took shape walking around my sister's college campus.

*laughs* This is awesome! Great job with the first-season character dynamic, which is just a little different than it is now -- it works beautifully. I love all the little details, like "MCKAY and Zelenka" with Rodney's name in much bigger type. *hee*

I *like* the first season. (Also, I've seen it more recently.)

And that particular detail was inspired by my ninth-grade English teacher and his Bidlack/Thompson method of... I forget what. Some kind of analysis, I think.

Details are what usually make stories for me. I tend towards a sort of verbal pointillism.

Thank you very much!

Whee, fun! I think I need to convince my family to celebrate Holi this year.

Thank you!

(There's rather more involved than the run-and-throw-paint part, of course.)
