Title: As Time Goes By
Author: rokeonNotes: Takes place shortly after The Siege II, with the obvious spoilers. I kind of glossed over what happened in between since I couldn't work out anything plausible in time. Went over the 38 minute limit editing it into something that wasn't totally gibberish ( Read more... )

I like it :) I like the little offhanded parentheses.
loved the bit about the nervous breakdown to come, and that writers are "amusingly far off track in their conception of Artificial Intelligence". and most especially the sarcastic comment about the turkey sandwich :)
(which I think means I liked it all, but take it as you will ;)

I'll take it as compliment, and say thank you very much.

Oh, yes. Just wonderful. I love Atlantis-as-character stories.

Atlantis is the coolest possible character because she really could be anything- happy to have people again, angry that they've taken her over, completely psychotic after thousands of years alone on the bottom of the ocean...

Way too many possibilities.

Glad you liked it! I usually write in fits and starts, so it's hard to guarantee anything. But I like Atlantis, and I have a few more ideas that I'm poking to see if they bite back.

John dreams of sleeping. Of slowing the beat of his heart and the breath of his lungs, closing his eyes and curling in on himself as he readies his body for the long hibernation to come.

John dreams of dreaming. Of drifting with the rhythm of tides and the passage of years, being disturbed three times by a pinprick before shifting position and sinking back into oblivion.

John dreams of waking. Of feeling the quickening of life and the stretching of senses, rising from his bed and recognizing long-awaited sunlight and fresh air and kin...

Teyla is still troubled by her Wraith-visions when she asks John about his own nightmares. He has to explain to her that he never remembers his dreams.

This was very interesting, although the parenthetical parts were somewhat hard to process. I love Atlantis/John stories. I also loved this little snippet that you put in the comments, more in fact than the flashfic itself. It has... a better rhythm. If you've written more Atlantis/John fiction, I'd love to read it!
