Excellent job. Really liked the way you had Lorne & Shepp knowing each other form their academy days.

Oh, I loved this! It's well-written and funny. Great characterizations of John, Lorne, and Rodney, and I really liked the structure with the past/present alternating scenes.

...and now I want a Quark of my very own. :P Hee.

Thank you! It was fun to be able to bring in past events.

Quark would be oodles of fun as long as you keep it away from high-pitched singers and Power Bars. ;)

Oh I loved this whole thing so much, especially your characterisation of Lorne which was fabulous. I read this ages ago, but am kidding myself I'm working and not loitering with intent on lj, but these lines :

"We need to up the morale by next week or risk Dr. Weir holding a talent competition," John explained. "And by Dr. Weir, I mean me and McKay. And by me and McKay I mean -- "

"Me and Zelenka," Lorne finished.

John grinned humorlessly. Lorne was a great 2IC. He already had a firm grasp of the situation.

"Right. So. We need some morale. In a hurry. Are we on the same page?" He raised his eyebrows at Lorne.

"Yes, sir," Lorne said with a fair degree of enthusiasm. "I'll get right on that."

"Good man," John said, clapping him on the back. "Please don't give me details." were just so brilliant that they've stayed with me.

Fabulous, I'm definitely sticking this in my memories

Thank you! (Also, a thousand apologies for taking so long to respond -- I can't access the comms at work and when I get home, I check my brain at the door.)

I can't help but think that Lorne and Zelenka get stuck (or "boned" to use military parlance and no, that's not gay at all) with all the crud Rodney and John don't want to do. Well, Radek does. Lorne probaby escapes a good deal of it because John is avidly trying not to be every commander he's ever hated. But he's utterly not above passing off a talent show. :)

Bweeheehee! Great backstory--and present story--here.
