Um, the link takes you to a different story than what your post suggests... I liked the other story (Sleepwalking), but it's not "Dark". ;-)

Nice take on the abandonment theme. I can see how John would really feel betrayed by his own body, and desperate enough to sit in the jumper for hours in the hope of some change.
