Type of beta you'd do: Spelling and grammar. Also, if I feel that something about your story is off I'll tell you. If you made Teyla talk like a teenager from the Bronx, for example, I'd have to mention it. Characters not acting like themselves without substantial reason is something I would suggest you change. If there are gaping plot holes that you could drive a semi truck through, I'll point them out.

I hope I don't come off as a complete jerk. I'm excited about the possibility of beta reading for someone since I've never done it before. I'm not a fanfiction writer, but I am a reader, and I can't stand it when I see things that could be changed in some way to benefit the story as a whole. I have respect for any genre you choose to write in, whichever character you want to focus on, or whichever couple you want to write about. I even tend to enjoy things on the odd side. If you think Radek Zelenka and Steven Caldwell were meant for each other and somehow manage to impregnate one of them, I'm kewl with that.
