Possible SAG Strike
One thing that sg_onesweetlove will be doing for its members is providing important news items for anything connected to either Ronon, Keller, Jason Momoa, or Jewel Staite.
Unfortunately, our first news post isn't a happy one. I really hate to post something so worrying, but it is important to the show, and specifically Jason.
I actually first heard about this via a comment on a Slice of SciFi Interview with Joe Mallozzi. The comment was: In the event that the Screen Actors Guild makes good on their threat to go on strike in the summer of 2008 (right in the middle of filming Season 5), Joe Flanigan and Jason Momoa (the only two Americans on the cast) will have to walk off the set, leaving the show with only three regular cast members (Luttrell, Hewlett and Tapping, who are Canadian and thus unaffected by a SAG strike).
Now I wasn't sure if this was something I should worry about or if someone was just getting ahead of themselves, so I talked to carpenyx and she agreed to post a question in Joe Mallozzi's blog about it.
Q: “I was curious if there was any truth behind this “rumor” that if the Screen Actors Guild goes on strike that it’ll affect Joe Flanigan and Jason Momoa finishing off the fifth season?”
A: "If SAG strikes, it will certainly affect Joe and Jason who are SAG members."
So it looks like Atlantis might not be safe from the striking after all. Personally, I'm just hoping that if Jason and Joe can't work that SciFi will be smart enough to wait until they can.
