Ficlet Request: Leitmotif (G)

izhilzha asked for Sam and Teal'c and rock music. The result surprised me, and it's definitely the longest ficlet so far at just under 1,000 words. Hope you like it, Izhilzha! It's set in very early S1, sometime after The Enemy Within. Word count: ~950

Oh, yes! This is wonderful: the tentative interaction between Teal'c and Sam, so true to very-early team; Teal'c eagerness to learn about the Tau'ri; and of course rock music would resonate with him, especially this new to freedom. *bounces with glee*

So glad you liked it! I knew I wanted it early S1 (or it would've turned cracky!) but I thought it was going to be light and fluffy with Teal'c charmed that Sam loved pounding music. But then it turned all thinky and Teal'cy, and really, I think it's for the best. :)

Aw, that was adorable. So very true to the early Teal'c and Sam relationship: Teal'c devouring knowledge about the Tau'ri and Sam still fumbling to try to explain the little things. And rock fits so well, because I can totally see Sam listening to it, and even though he can't always understand the words (hell, I have a hard time figuring out what they're singing sometimes!), the music itself I can easily see resonating with Teal'c.

I think rock music would go quite nicely with Sam the speed demon, don't you?

And yes, the spirit behind classic rock would definitely resonate with Teal'c. Really, this prompt surprised me with its depth. Izhilzha has great taste!

This is so great - I *love* early Teal'c stories. The paragraph about the elevator and the watch? So powerful.

You have a really wonderful Teal'c voice - I love his keen observations of Sam, and of his new home and people.

I think the watch was a huge epiphany for Teal'c - that it's technology in the hands of humans, not the Goa'uld, and so casual about it.
