Wow! I've always assumed they spent a boring three days just trying to get back out, but I like your version way better! And it's a great Sam story, with Sam leading, and leading competently (even if she does doubt herself)--and good Sam and Teal'c interaction. I also like the bits filled in from Daniel's ascension.
and maybe, if she worked hard enough, she could keep Daniel's deaths down to an absolute minimum along the way. Love that line; that's a definite keeper!
Oh, thank you! I was sort of surprised myself when it turned into such a Sam story - I wasn't expecting it either. :) But it worked out well, and Teal'c and Sam working together is always a bonus.
That line was definitely Random-inspired, and yes, I love it too. :)
The little details did it... Daniel an the Oz humor, but not too soon, just after they could all afford some levity, and the character's voices were very good.
Aw. Poor Sam. I mean, poor Daniel, too, but he's probably used to this kind of thing by now. Sam's still new to having him and his amazing knack for getting whumped as her responsibility. At least she has Teal'c. *hugs them*
This was fun! I liked the idea of Daniel having flashbacks of the lab from when he was Ascended. And I like Teal'c's assurance that hey, they saved the world in those three days, if in a rather unspectacular fashion, but hey: world saved! So Sam doesn't have to feel like it was a complete waste of time.
I was surprised how much this became Sam's story, rather than being an overall team fic. But yes, that was the story that wanted to be told, in the end.
And yes, poor Daniel. Near-dying? So last week!
And Teal'c is the absolute master at dry understatement, isn't he? I do love them all. :)
Oh this was really intriguing. Anubis was using this lab to recreate the plague, and how it's the very unique nature of SG-1 that saved them from the intruder alerts.
I liked how Daniel came out of the fugue states with no memories of what happened before. It's a bit of a foreshadowing to why Replicarter was so certain the memories were in his head, even though in canon, we've only seen it happen with "Orpheus". Poor Daniel. He was having a rough time, wasn't he?
I liked Sam's own doubts. Interesting you distinctly made this SG-1's first mission (it's unclear in canon)...it helps explain why Sam is so disgruntled at having SG-3 tag along too. I liked her worry over Daniel and her own moments of confidence and self-doubt.
I thought it was very clear from canon that it was their first trip through the gate as SG-.75. They settle on having only three at the beginning of the ep, then pitch the mission at Jack, get saddled with SG-3 as babysitters because Jack isn't quite ready to let his kids go out on their own... I guess we all interpret things different ways. :)
Anyway, I'm really glad you enjoyed it. Whumping Daniel turned out to be surprisingly easy, too! :D And Sam's voice turned out to unexpectedly very powerful. I'm glad she took over, really.
LOL. They settled on having three for good in Lockdown. I guess I was figuring they were operating in the field as a three man, er person, team in the interim anyway, and hadn't followed literally that Zero Hour was so soon after Lockdown, but it makes good sense. (as long as it's not canonically inconsistent, anything can happen! :-D)
Poor whumped Daniel. There's no escape for him now--in the scene of "offscreen"! (I was nervous my first time too...and that issue has scarily gone away over time. Heh) And yay Sam voice! Season 8 Sam is quite chatty, isn't she?
Oops, you're right about the three thingy being in Lockdown. But I do see the eps as following immediately on each other, so... ::shrugs:: It works out okay for me. :)
Daniel whumping is scarily addictive. But at least he stayed in uniform for this one! ;)

Thank you so much, I never expected this but compared to the episode itself it's perfect.
The Thor's Hammerish weapon and the plague are just the sort of things Anubis would come up with.
The teamy goodness is perfectly done as well.
Once again thank you.

Anubis was creepy, even if he wasn't my favorite bad guy. He did favor the apocalyptic, didn't he?
Yay for teamy goodness! And thank you for what turned out to be a great prompt, and my offical indoctrination into the world of Daniel-whumping. :)

I'm glad there's other people with my extreme love of Gen and team fic.

I came via stargatefic, by the way.

And yes, the humor does have to sneak in somewhere, doesn't it? :)
