A Most Successful Treasure Hunt (PG-13)

This is for campylobacter, in the hope it lightens her day a little. Take care, Campy. :)

Pre-series Vala, trying to find enough trinkets to keep going. Includes spoilers for her backstory. 1,730 words. Rated PG-13 for references to certain Goa'uld habits.

Well, that answers my question on where she got her little healing device :) Wonderful little story--and back-story--for Vala.

You are so sweet to write this for Campy. I really hope it does brighten her day.

Thank you! We never see very many of the healing devices, do we? So it was fun to figure out how Vala found hers. :)

This was an interesting little piece - I liked it! It was nice of you to do this for someone. :) I enjoyed the little 'fight' Vala has with Qetesh, even if the Gou'uld isn't actually there. Love the naq. senses and the way you portrayed them, too. Nice job!

Thank you! I think Vala spent years and years and years fighting with the Qetesh that was still "in her head," so to speak, even after the symbiote was long gone. And if anyone is going to get commercial benefit out of the ability to sense naquadah, it's going to be Vala. ;)

Delightful! I loved Vala needing to change her emotional approach to get the healing device to work.

Thanks! We know that emotional focus has a lot to do with the ribbon device, and how hard it was for Sam to heal Cronus when she had to, so I figured she would need to change her approach here. Glad you liked it. :)

I really like this story. It's very much in character for Vala (and the parts of her character I like without most of what I don't like!).

Thanks. :)

Aurora told me years ago that if I wanted to learn to like Vala, the best way was to start writing her. I'm never going to be her biggest fan, but she's definitely grown on me!

FYI: Mr. Campy's prognosis is not as bad as it was yesterday; he may (incredibly!) actually survive & recover. Thanks so much for writing this. I lose focus on any fic-reading after a few sentences (still too stressed out to concentrate) but I do plan to read & enjoy when my mental state isn't in hyper-manic-caregiver mode.

Campy, woke up this morning to your news. I am so sorry. Lots of virtual hugs.

Thanks again. I miss him so much, but I'm glad he's not suffering anymore. The best part was that I was able to hold him in my arms as he slipped away.
