Thank you so much for catching those mistakes for me. :)

I'm so glad Teal'c's opening narrative worked. I was a little afraid that it was painfully obvious how much I was sidestepping any description of the "locals"!

That bit with Daniel and the angstiness is the part he insisted on adding. He also wanted some reference to how easily he killed the Jaffa with a staff weapon in The Nox, but I put my foot down. ;)

Can't you just see Teal'c solemnly performing the chicken dance one day...? Nope, me neither!

Thanks so much the beta job, and your lovely comments. :)

I couldn't help but wonder how Jack would have handled the situation. Jack's more a dog person, but less concerned about communication much of the time. He might have been more leery than Daniel.

Poor Teal'c and his staff weapon!

(Is it "Abydons," or "Abydonians"? Solutions has "Abydonians".)

::nods:: My original version had references to Jack and dogs -- Teal'c wondering why Daniel had broken Tau'ri law ("Every kid has to have a dog") and Daniel defensively saying that his foster parents had kept a parakeet. But Teal'c and Daniel had other ideas!

(Teal'c's staff weapon? Impossible to resist, heh.)

Regarding Abydons vs. Abydonians: Jack in COTG refers to the "Abydon boys." Sha're refers to "the Abydonians" in FIAD. Since they're both canon, I prefer the former. (Hey, Sha're's English is imperfect, right?)

"...heading for their rendezvous with Sam and Teal'c." This is the one that caught me up. :) I think you meant to say Sam and Jack.

I enjoyed this, and loved the culture/societal behaviors you created for the dogs. New cultures always fascinate me, even if when they're wrapped entirely around dogs!

Great stuff!!

Ooh, nice catch, thank you!

I have no real experience with dogs, so I'm really glad it felt real for you. Thanks so much. :)

Loved the "sign" language practiced by both sides. ;-) This has a bitter-sweetness to it that I think typifies Teal'c and Daniel's early relationship, this line especially: "It is a bitter bargain," he said at last, "but it is mine, for good and for ill."

Hey, Daniel has his sign language, Leader has his kind! :)

So glad you liked that line - that was one of the bits where Teal'c obviously knew better than I did what to say. The whole bitter-sweet aspect was entirely their idea, not mine. Thank so much!

Hee! I had a feeling the staff weapon would get peed on! That was a poignant note, Daniel wearying of the universe wanting him to constantly defend his wife's kidnapper. :-/ But lovely friendship, nonetheless. :-)

Yeah, the bit with Leader expressing his opinion of the staff weapon was in there from the beginning. :) Of course, Daniel wanted it all ANGSTY with the two of them mentioning that body fluids don't bother a staff weapon (as in, blood), but I decided to go with the lighter "okay, just wear latex gloves till we can wash it off" instead.

I'm so glad you liked the poignancy of that line. I liked it a lot after Daniel insisted I add it in. See, I don't always ignore him! :)

Thanks.
