February: fandom, fic, recs
Here's the round-up for February!
We celebrated SG-1 Gen Fic Day at the beginning of the month, with the emphasis on crossovers. Here's the round-up with all the links! And we had a HUGE helping of Crossover Alphabet Soup (clocking in at over 57,000 words), with extra Crossover Flashfics in the bargain. I am awed that we have no had over one hundred different authors contributing to the various Alphabet Soups over the years. You people are awesome. :)
gate_women has issued a challenge: 11 in 11. There have already been several entries, including fics and recs and picspam. Go take a look, and consider signing up yourself.
redial_the_gate has just finished Season 8 (!!!!) -- Aby and Aurora and Pepper, where has all the time gone?! The comm is now running an icontest and the trivia contest for S8 will be going up soon. And then it's signups for Season 9!
one_prompt is going live with the latest challenge -- er, today, actually. Sigh. Participating wasn't even a possibility for me this time, but you can still contribute for the next five days if you're interested in the "cabin fever" prompt!
I had less time for writing this month, but managed two fics:
L is for L-Space. My contribution to the Crossover Alphabet Soup. Daniel takes a wrong turn in an off-world library and strays through L-Space to Unseen University. Rated G.
Dial it Up, Daniel. A quirky look at Daniel's idle speculations on Ancient influence on the human psyche. Rated G.
Oh, yes, and there's my Watership Down flashficlet, too!
Now for the recs. My two categories this month were Gen and Crossover, posted at stargateficrec and crossposted to figs_sg1_rec. I am actually in the process of updating the master list of fic recs to be current (it's about time!).
Gen recs
I haven't done Gen as its own category for a long time, so I recced stories that were either difficult to put into any other category or had already been recced by someone else in the best-fitting category.

With crossovers, I cheated, really. :) I signed up for it with the expectation of shamelessly using some of the fics from the Alphabet Soup. But as things turned out, I made five recs without touching the Soup fics and barely made a dent in my to-rec list! So I signed up for the category again in March, and I'll take use some Soup fics then.
