The end of the calendar year! I'll be writing a yearly roundup in the next day or so, but in the meantime, here's what happened in Fig Newton Land in the month of December:
In fic
Five Fix-Its That Weren't. Five drabbles: five fix-its that didn't happen to Sam, Daniel, Jack, Teal'c, and Jonas. While the Teal'c one is probably my favorite, I am excited to write Jonas POV for the first time ever.
suzannemarie suggested expanding the drabble into a full story, and I've tentatively added that idea to my extensive "to-write" list for the coming year -- after I finish watching S6! This was written for
one_prompt's second challenge:
Well? Can you fix it? The comm is a fun premise and well worth watching -- a new challenge will be issued in January, I think.
All in the Timing. Daniel tries to sneak a little extra archeology time on a mission, but no one can ever put anything past Teal'c.
At Least It's Not Poisonous (G). Chulak and Earth observe common holidays after all, or Why, yes! Teal'c pwns the team again!
...It's amazing how much Teal'c pwnage I've written this year. Or possibly not so amazing at all. :)
In fandom
redial_the_gate continues its rewatch of S6, and I got to watch three more
brand new episodes. (Abyss, for some odd reason, I'd seen already...) I'll say again that NEW STARGATE is beyond awesome and I have gotten to like Jonas a lot. I regret that my introduction to SG-1 fandom predisposed me to disliking him, and I'm glad for the chance to get to know him now.
For those that thought
canon vs. fanon was dead - and I'd hardly blame you! - I hope it was a pleasant surprise that I finally wrote another installment.
Infirmary fanon, part 2, with the usual delightful discussion in the comments.
SG-1 Gen Fic Day is coming next week, and we'll be having Vala Alphabet Soup at the same time. Spread the word, please -- I'm always excited to have new contibutors to the gen squee.
Over at Dreamwidth,
sg1genrecs now has over 80 people watching. ::bounce bounce:: The current rec theme is favorite gen stories. There have only been two so far and one of those was retroactive, so I hope some people will take a few moments to rec a good gen story that they enjoy reading over and over again.
