Five Fix-Its That Weren't (G)

Dec 01, 2009 13:15

Five drabbles. Five fix-its that didn't happen to Sam, Daniel, Jack, Teal'c, and Jonas.

Written for one_prompt's second challenge: Well? Can you fix it? Includes specific spoilers for Full Circle, 1969, and Meridian, with a bit of random Jack and Sam friendship and pre-series Teal'c and Bra'tac thrown in for good measure.

I wish I had a knack for drabbles. I'm so jealous of people who can do them. But enough about me...

These are lovely. A nice mix of lightness and drama.

You know, if you ever wanted to follow up on it, I could see how you could turn your fifth one into a larger story to really explore that situation.

Thank you! And thanks for the comm that inspired these. :)

I think you're right about #5 - it would be fascinating to try to explore Meridian from his POV. I'm going to have to get to know Jonas a little better, though. Maybe after finishing S6, I'll be ready to write him properly - this drabble was my first-ever attempt!

The more time that has gone by, the more I think that Jonas gets a little bit of a raw deal from fans that blame him for Daniel's demise. (I thought about doing a meta about it Jonas as Pawn for Meridian for Redial, but lost momentum.)

If you ever want to bounce ideas around for a longer story, I'll be happy to be a sounding board.

Oh, I know I had a warped view of Jonas because of fanfic written by people who blamed him for Daniel's loss. It's kinda why I'm watching S6 now for the first time, after all. :)

And thank you - I'll keep your offer in mind, if and when the time comes.

Aw, these are lovely!

Poor Jack. He is just not good with electronic equipment, is he?

Daniel in Full Circle is really powerful. Can't believe how much you fit into a drabble!

1969--love the humor as well as the urgency you capture.

Teal'c and Bra'tac--of course Teal'c couldn't figure out how to fix the gods' magic devices, but it's quite a lesson Bra'tac's teaching to to gauge his apprentice's abilities.

Meridian--oh, so heartbreaking. We don't see much of Jonas's change of heart, and I think you developed it wonderfully here.

Thank you for lovely, detailed feedback! Jack's VCR was absolutely the first one that popped into my head, I must confess. :)

Glad you liked all of them! And aren't you impressed with how Redial is turning me into a Jonas fan? That comm is magic, I tell you!

Hee! Yes, it's those Simpsons tapings. Vitally important.

Yay, redial! See, don't say ka until you've tried it!

Oh so good! I was a late fan so Daniel was already back before I realized he was gone. I have always maintained that Jonas (and the actor portraying him) were in an unwinnable situation.
Jack fixing the bus! Daniel losing Abydos! And Bra'tac for good measure? Pretty much the definition of awesome.

I also discovered Stargate after Daniel was already back, but too much anti-Jonas (aka Saint Daniel) fic soured the character for me. I'm glad I have the chance to discover him now!

And yeah, Bra'tac is pretty much the definition of awesome, in any case. :)

Love 'em! Humorous, hopeful, and heart-breaking, all in five little drabbles!

Thank you! :)

(Drabbles are oddly addictive, I must confess.)

I like the Teal'c one quite a lot too, myself. :) Thank you!
