Lovely and bittersweet. This is wonderful. You say so much in very few words. It's so very well observed.

I love the irony of the ending, and that Jack doesn't make that mistake again.

Heh, yes - ironic in that Daniel's actually alive and well on Vis Uban. And, as you say, he's pretty stubborn about it in Threads, isn't he?

Oooh. What a grim and yet hopeful interpretation of that relationship. Jack always fighting his inclination to do and waiting instead, and Daniel always coming back, even when he isn't.
