You know, that makes a certain kind of sens. That the Goa'uld rely on the arrogance of the show of force without actually having to use that force. And I especiallly liked this line: "The Goa'uld were complacent. The Tau'ri clawed their way to triumph."
Now that SciFi has started all over with their SG reruns, I find myself wanting more old school SG-1 and this fit the bill perfectly, thank you! This was a great read.

Thank you! I figure the Goa'uld are arrogance personified, and don't really see the need for active violence under most circumstances. Consider how surprised (and angry) Ra was when Abydos rebelled, and how few guards he had with him!

There is so much fantastic stuff in here, Fig! I love the stormtrooper reference, of course, but the reflections on culture, on the way all four of them are still so slowly working their way to an understanding, the little asides like Teal'c's disdain for safety equipment and Daniel's often unrecognized competence if not skill with a gun. Fabulous.

This more than fits - it's exactly what I wanted to see. Classic SG-1. I love how you wrote this about Teal'c's pivital transition from being First Prime to an SG-1 member. Love it. I love the internal dialog Teal'c is having with himself about just what he should and shouldn't reveal about himself to the Tau'ri.

And Brae! Squee! I love that old man. He's a cool old dude. I love the way you showed how his preparation of Teal'c led him to making this transition.
