Why, WHY, WHY do fic archivists insist on either white-text-on-black-background or black-text-on-white-background?! WHY. Granted the latter is not quite as bad as the former but if it's a long multi-chaptered fic... ARGH MY EYES THEY BLEED. (Check out Twilighted.net to see what I mean. OMG. Also, if you can stand the text colour issue that story is BEYOND excellent.)
Yes, I know The Place of Our Legacy had white-on-black but it also had an image background that broke it up somewhat. All of my other fic archives have had some version of grey (either background or text) or a muted colour to be a bit kinder on the eyes.
One of the best I've seen? Stories of Arda. Oh, it was a JOY reading stuff there! No eye pain!
