What about this one? it's not technically text, just a plus sign and tiny boxes, and I usually edit it and/or add my own text but I want to be sure it's ok since it's on one of my current favorites for this challenge. Thanks.
I think though, that that is technically still a tiny text brush, so I would say no. hsapiens will be coming through here soon to round up the entries for voting, so I'll let her chime in with her opinion.
My apologies for not addressing this last night. It seemed that a solution had already been devised when I saw this and I was working to get my guest room in order for company arriving today, so I waited until now to weigh in.
I agree with beeej that the purpose of that brush is to look like text and would be fulfilling a text role within a composition, so it counts as a "text brush." Since it *is* possible to replicate it using your text tool, I'm glad that's the agreement y'all arrived at before I so much as logged on. :)
Saving layers is a good idea in case anyone questions, I also did that when I was making an icon w/ tiny text that I was considering entering, but I hope that it never becomes necessary to prove one's self. I *hope* that we're all here for the fun of learning and getting feedback.
As such, there's no reason to "cheat" on purpose. (I'd hate to get comments of, "Great text!" and know I wasn't responsible for it, you know?) I hope we're all adults and can trust that if someone includes tiny text or a particularly well done bit of text, that it's something the maker created herself. Not that we'd be lax if we recognized a text brush or had it brought to our attention but I am not operating from a position of suspicion; I hope it's not because I'm naive. I think this comm is incredibly lucky in attracting a bunch of amazingly talented makers who are also interesting people. I sincerely hope we're fostering an environment of creativity and exploration rather than a single-minded determination to "win."
And...all of this is is a complete tangent to what you were asking about but was sparked by your concern for saving the layers. I appreciate your asking for clarification and I'll happily babble at you any time you want to know about something. And even when you don't! ;)
