Planning for Round 4

IMPORTANT~1/3 of participants dropped out during the course of the last round (a few folks had unforeseen computer issues and I'm not counting them). No, they wouldn't need to be created but neither is MGM good for every cap. Promos are often "stills" as opposed to caps which freeze the action; the latter often have more emotion and sometimes have more artistic angles than pics meant to be used promotionally.

MGM is a great resource -- one we have leaned on often -- but the available pics are hit and miss. For many episodes, they'll offer up 5 photos of special guest star of the week, a couple shots of the director behind the scene, and maybe a few of the main characters in one or two scenes. For example, we wanted a good shot of the team in their medieval robes in "The Quest Part 1" for Round 2's "Under Cover" theme but MGM doesn't have a promo for that.

So, yes, anytime they have a good promo that would work, we're very happy to use the promos. Gateworld has 72 dpi caps of every episode available. There are sources, it's just a time commitment to go through the episodes, find the scene one wants, pick out the best quality cap, and upload the caps to our private database for the group to discuss and finalize.

It would be my preference to have all of us agree on a theme, to have the person in charge of the caps decide which episodes & scenes to gather, and then to take part in choosing the final caps for the challenge.
